When Pigs Have Wings

After a storm, fishermen sometimes find more than just fish in their nets. This is the case for Jafaar, an impoverished fisherman living in Gaza, who is shocked to discover a pig in his catch. This animal is considered unclean and impure by both Islam and Judaism. Determined to rid himself of the pig, Jafaar embarks on a quest to sell it, first approaching a United Nations official, and then a Jewish settlement where Yelena raises pigs not for consumption, but for security purposes. Navigating through his Palestinian community, past Israeli soldiers, and under the watchful eyes of Islamic extremists with a “forbidden” animal in tow is far from easy, leading Jafaar into a series of comedic and challenging situations.
