The Shadow Play

Tang Yijie, who serves as the Director of the Construction Committee, meets his end by falling from a rooftop during a chaotic demolition protest. Yang Jiadong, a young officer in the police force, begins to investigate and discovers that Tang’s demise is linked to an older case from years prior. Despite being falsely accused and suspended from his role, Yang remains determined to uncover the truth. The film explores the ways in which people and families have amassed wealth over the past three decades since China’s reform era commenced.
