The Pier
After two decades without any communication with his son, Larry McCarthy feigns being on his deathbed to lure Jack back to his homeland of Ireland from the United States. Upon Jack’s arrival, he is enraged to find his father in good health and even more frustrated when he realizes he cannot leave. This situation forces the father and son to confront their troubled past. Central to their conflict is Larry’s refusal to accept the death of his wife, Jack’s mother. The narrative delves into the challenging and often comically awkward attempts at communication between them. As they reluctantly establish a truce, reality hits when Larry reveals another truth to Jack, paving the way for their ultimate reconciliation.
