The Future Is Now!
A journalist, played by Liane Balaban, encounters a man known as the “Man of Today,” portrayed by Paul Ahmarani. Although he is a conscientious individual, he remains detached from the broader community, convinced that nothing matters after death. To challenge his bleak outlook, the journalist embarks on an experiment to change his perspective, sending him on a global quest for enlightenment to demonstrate the significance of the future. During his travels, he has unexpected meetings with influential figures in the arts and sciences. His journey begins with an unanticipated poetry reading and discussion with avant-garde poet Christian Bök, and continues with interactions with architect Shigeru Ban, activist Francis Dupuis-Déri, philosopher Alain de Botton, artist Marlene Dumas, novelist Rivka Galchen, prominent scientists, and even a ghost. The question remains: can the journalist transform a skeptic into an optimist? Does it ultimately matter? What impact can a single individual have?
