Infamous serial murderer Joe Carroll, convicted of killing 14 female students at the Virginia college where he was a literature professor, manages to break out of death row. The FBI enlists the help of ex-agent Ryan Hardy, who originally apprehended Carroll in 2003, to provide his expertise on the case. Ryan collaborates with an FBI team, including Mike Weston and Specialist Debra Parker, to unravel the expanding network of killings masterminded by the cunning Carroll.
