Within the DGSE, the General Directorate for External Security, there exists a division known as the Office of Legends (BDL). This unit is responsible for training and remotely managing the most crucial operatives of the French intelligence network: the Clandestine agents. These agents are deployed into hostile territories with the task of identifying potential informants. They operate “under legend,” meaning they assume entirely fabricated identities, living in a state of constant deception for many years. Our protagonist has just returned from a covert mission that lasted six years in Damascus. However, in defiance of security protocols, he refuses to relinquish the false identity he adopted in Syria, thereby jeopardizing the entire system.
