Cow and Chicken

Cow and Chicken is an American animated comedy series crafted by David Feiss for Cartoon Network. The show centers on the bizarre escapades of a cow named Cow and her chicken sibling, Chicken. They frequently face trouble from “The Red Guy,” who disguises himself in various roles to deceive them. As the series progressed, characters I.M. Weasel and I.R. Baboon, initially part of the recurring segment I Am Weasel, were spun off into their own half-hour show with the same title.

Similar to Dexter’s Laboratory and other Cartoon Network shows from the 1990s, the original pilot was featured as an episode in the animated shorts anthology What a Cartoon!, conceived by Fred Seibert, who was the president of Hanna-Barbera at the time. Cow and Chicken originally aired on Cartoon Network from July 15, 1997, to July 24, 1999, with reruns continuing on the network until April 2006. The show is also broadcast on Boomerang, with a TV-Y7 rating. It received Emmy Award nominations in 1996 and 1998.
