Australia’s Next Top Model
Australia’s Next Top Model is an Australian reality TV show, adapted from the franchise originally created by Tyra Banks with America’s Next Top Model. Produced by Granada Productions, it airs on the Australian subscription channel FOX8. The show’s aim is to discover a talented but yet-to-be-recognized Australian fashion model and provide her with a platform to enhance her prospects in the modeling industry.
The series was most recently hosted by Australian model Sarah Murdoch, who also took on the roles of lead judge and co-executive producer from cycles five to seven. Previous hosts included Jodhi Meares and Erika Heynatz. An eighth cycle was slated for production and broadcast in 2013, necessitating the search for a new host before filming could resume.
In April 2012, it was announced that the series would take a hiatus for the year due to difficulties in finding a replacement for Sarah Murdoch. On November 19, 2012, it was revealed that Jennifer Hawkins, a beauty queen, model, and television personality, had been selected as the new host for the upcoming eighth cycle.
