What does it take to acknowledge that your overprotective mother might be right? Annabel, a young and carefree woman residing in San Francisco, is confronted with this harsh reality when her mother, Joan, makes an unexpected visit from her quaint Midwestern hometown. After Annabel’s elderly neighbor dies, Joan is convinced it’s a case of murder. Annabel initially dismisses her mother’s theory as typical paranoia about city life until she herself encounters another corpse, which mysteriously vanishes. Lacking any proof to present to the authorities, Annabel embarks on a humorous investigation, with Joan as her sole partner and a potential murderer who might be aware of their amateur detective work.
