Marius

Set in the Old Port of Marseilles, “Marius” unfolds at the La Marine Bar, run by César and his son, Marius. Marius harbors a deep desire to board one of the ships that pass by the bar and journey to distant lands. Fanny, a charming young seafood vendor, has secretly loved Marius since childhood, and although he has never admitted it, Marius has always had feelings for Fanny. One day, a sailor visits La Marine and offers Marius a position on an expedition ship. In an attempt to delay his departure and stir his jealousy, Fanny confesses her love to him, sparking a confrontation between Marius and Panisse, an elderly boat dealer and longtime suitor of Fanny.
