Kamisama no karute

Dr. Ichito Kuriharai, portrayed by Sho Sakurai, is a dedicated physician working at a clinic in Nagano Prefecture. Due to a shortage of medical staff and a steady stream of patients, he finds himself with little to no free time. Often, Ichito has to treat patients outside his area of expertise and sometimes goes without sleep for days. He dreams of joining a large hospital where he could have more leisure time to be with his wife, Haruna, played by Aoi Miyazaki, and focus on his specialty. Despite this, he hesitates to leave the clinic, as it would exacerbate the doctor shortage and sever his bonds with the patients. One day, while sorting through the belongings of a terminal cancer patient who has passed away, Ichito finds a letter addressed to him. The letter expresses gratitude for the care he provided, even though he couldn’t cure the illness. This moment leads Ichito to a profound realization about the medical chart he holds, which is filled with his personal notes and reflections.
