Helen, a clergywoman, is sought out by scientist Lisbeth, who urgently requests her assistance. A young man, incarcerated in a maximum-security psychiatric facility for murdering an elderly couple, has tried to take his own life while speaking incoherently about God. Previously involved in an experiment aimed at rehabilitating inmates by giving them pets, the young man has suddenly become uncontrollably violent. Concerned that he might attempt suicide again, the priest and the scientist must put aside their differences to uncover the truth. As time runs out, the two women embark on a startling journey into the troubled depths of the young man’s psyche.
