Crooked Earth

After two decades away serving in the military, Will Bastion returns to his hometown to lay his father, the former leader of the Ngati Kaipuku Maori tribe, to rest. As the eldest son, Will is hesitant to assume his father’s leadership role, which his younger brother, Kahu, eagerly takes on. Kahu leads a group of drug dealers and troublemakers who disrupt the town by riding horses through it and damaging gardens. Under the pretense of rejecting a land settlement, Kahu orchestrates a significant marijuana deal with some dangerous city dwellers. Will faces a difficult decision, torn between his loyalty to his brother and father, Maori traditions, and modern financial challenges.
